26_September 2016: The 71st UN General Assembly (UNGA) has concluded its general debate. In a closing address delivered on his behalf, UNGA President Peter Thomson welcomed Member States' work to implement the SDGs and their support for the UN Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) and the UN Conference on SDG 14. He urged all governments to include the SDGs on their country's education curricula, stressing that youth are the ones who will inherit the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. continued...

26_September 2016: The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has released the first full analysis of the use of carbon pricing in 34 OECD member countries and seven partner countries. The report titled, 'Effective Carbon Rates - Pricing CO2 through Taxes and Emissions Trading Systems,' considers a wide range of types of carbon prices, such as specific taxes on energy use, carbon taxes and tradable permits. In all, the 41 countries analyzed separately and in aggregate for the report account for 80% of global energy use and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. continued...

Added to the 29 Parties that had already joined, these 60 Parties account for 47.76% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
