Third IRENA General Assembly

The third session of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Assembly, IRENA's supreme governing body, will take place on 13-14 January 2013, to finalize remaining institution-building issues, report on its progress to member states, and renew its mandate on encouraging the global uptake of renewable energy. The Assembly will immediately precede the Abu Dhabi International Renewable Energy Conference (ADIREC), the World Future Energy Summit (WFES), and the International Water Summit 2013, which are taking place on 15-17 January 2013. These events are part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW).

Fifth Session of the INC to Prepare a Legally Binding Instrument on Mercury

This meeting (INC 5) is scheduled to be the final of five Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) meetings to negotiate a legally binding instrument on mercury.

REPALEAC General Assembly

The overarching goal of this meeting is to improve the governance of the Network of Indigenous and Local Communities for the Sustainable Management of Forest Ecosystems in Central Africa (REPALEAC), by strengthening the participation of local people in biodiversity conservation and the management of Central African forests and natural resources. Specific objectives also include the adoption of the three-year strategic plan 2013-2015 and road-map, the appointment of new members to the Regional Coordination office, and to inform and educate indigenous peoples on the mechanisms and processes of APA and REDD+.

Second Meeting of the UNFF Ad Hoc Expert Group on Forest Financing

The aim of this meeting is to develop proposals on strategies to mobilize resources from all sources to support the implementation of sustainable forest management (SFM), the achievement of the global objectives on forests and the implementation of the non-legally binding instrument on all types of forests.
