GEF-UNEP-WRI-RA Steering Committee of the Project A Regional Focus on Sustainable Timber Management in the Congo Basin

The Steering Committee on the Global Environmental Facility, United Nations Environment Programme, World Resources Institute, and Rainforest Alliance (GEF-UNEP-WRI-RA) project on "A Regional Focus on Sustainable Timber Management in the Congo Basin" will meet in Doala, Cameroon from 28-31 January 2013. The project is taking place with the support of The Central African Forest Commission (COMIFAC), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Resources Institute (WRI), Rainforest Alliance, alongside officials from government, national NGOs, the private sector and international development organizations across the Congo Basin.

CBD Regional Workshop for African Least Developed Countries on the Fifth National Report

The purpose of this workshop is to strengthen capacities of African Least Developed Countries (LDCs) for preparing their fifth national reports to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which are due by 31 March 2014, specifically in assessing the status and trends of biodiversity, reviewing implementation of national biodiversity strategies and action plans, and measuring progress towards the 2020 Aichi targets.

WACDEP 4th Technical Coordination Workshop

The Global Water Partnership – Southern Africa (GWP-SA) will be hosting this 4th Water, Climate and Development Programme for Africa (WACDEP) Technical Coordination Workshop in Pretoria, South Africa. The workshop aims at strengthening the exchange of lessons, knowledge sharing and technical coordination of WACDEP implementation among the GWP regions. Expected participants include GWP partners from all participating regions and key stakeholders from the water and climate change sector, namely the African Minsters' Council on Water (AMCOW), ministries, development banks and NGOs. The WACDEP programme is an initiative of AMCOW and involves the major African organizations with competencies in water.

International Expert Group Meeting: Indigenous Youth

This three-day Expert Group Meeting on indigenous youth will consider the theme "Identity, challenges and hope: articles 14, 17, 21 and 25 of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP)". It is organized following a decision by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and the results will be reported to the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (PFII) at its twelfth session in May 2013.

Third Meeting of HLP on Post-2015 Development Agenda

The High-level Panel of Eminent Persons on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP) will hold its third meeting in Monrovia, Liberia, with a focus on national development.
