AU Adopts Common African Position on Post-2015
31 January 2014: The Assembly of Heads and State and Government has adopted the Common African Position on the Post-2015 Development Agenda, among other decisions, at the 22nd Annual African Union (AU) Summit.
In its decision, the Assembly requests the High Level Committee on the Post-2015 Development Agenda to meet “as soon as possible” to launch the Common African Position in Ndjamena, Chad. This committee was formed to build regional and inter-continental alliances on the Common African Position as well as to coordinate activities of African leaders and members of the UN High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP).
The Assembly also endorsed the articulation of African development goals consistent with existing African frameworks, and agreed that African development goals, especially in the post-2015 period, should serve as milestones for monitoring progress towards its Agenda 2063.
