UNITAR Convenes GHS Training in Republic of Congo

6 November 2012: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) convened a training workshop on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS) from 5-6 November 2012, in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo. The workshop focused on GHS objectives and scope of application, as well as hazard communication and the use of Safety Data Sheets.

According to UNITAR, the workshop brought together 37 participants from government, industry, civil society and academia. Discussions focused on reviewing the Situation and Gap Analysis report on GHS in Republic of Congo, and elements of the National GHS Implementation Strategy.

This training is part of the Strategic Approach to International Chemicals Management (SAICM) project titled “Strengthening national capacities for SAICM Implementation and GHS Capacity Building in the Republic of Congo,” and is funded by the SAICM Quick Start Programme Trust Fund. [UNITAR Press Release]
